Electrical installationsElectrical installation in Valjevo. Wiring that keeps up with today's appliances
We put in new electrical installations and replace old ones, fuse board included, so the cooker, water heater and air conditioning get circuits of their own and the cables aren't the weak link. Cables go into the wall or along it in trunking; we fit sockets, switches and lighting points, and the board gets breakers plus an RCD. Our seat is in Valjevo, and our wiring work also takes us to Belgrade and further afield in Serbia.
What we do
- New installations: new builds and extensions
- Rewiring: the old installation replaced with new
- Fuse boards with breakers and an RCD
- Lighting and floor boxes
- A dedicated circuit for the cooker, water heater, air conditioning or an EV charger
- Old aluminium cables replaced with copper
- Switching from screw-in fuses to circuit breakers
- Cables inside the wall or in surface trunking
When you need it
You've bought an older flat and, before moving day, want wiring that can cope with new appliances. While the flat is empty, the job is easiest and no furniture has to move.
You're redoing the kitchen or bathroom, and an induction hob, oven or new water heater is on its way. Each heavy appliance gets its own circuit and its own breaker on the board.
The house is going up and the walls aren't plastered yet. That's when cables and boxes go in most easily, and you decide where the sockets go, to suit the furniture.
A breaker keeps tripping, a socket gets warm or there's a smell of burning plastic near the board. The circuit needs checking before it does more damage.
Good to know
An RCD (FID sklopka in Serbian) keeps comparing the current flowing into a circuit with the current coming back. If some of it escapes through damp or a person, the two no longer match and the RCD cuts the circuit in a fraction of a second. The international standard IEC 60364-4-41 calls for extra protection by an RCD of no more than 30 mA on sockets up to 32 A for general use. A circuit breaker can't do this: it reacts to overloads and short circuits, not to leakage.
How we work
You photograph the board.
Take a picture of your fuse board and send it over Viber or WhatsApp, with the floor area and a list of your heavier appliances. The board tells us roughly how old the wiring is.
We agree the layout.
Together we decide where the sockets, switches and lights go, and which appliances get a circuit of their own. That sets how many circuits and breakers the board needs.
Cables and boxes go in.
In new construction we do this before plastering; in a lived-in flat, through chases or in trunking. Each circuit gets cable of a cross-section that suits its load.
We build the board.
Your own board gets a circuit breaker for every circuit and an RCD, in place of the old screw-in fuses.
We switch on circuit by circuit.
We switch the circuits on one at a time, check the sockets and lights, and try the RCD with its test button. Finally we walk you through the board and which breaker covers which room.
Questions
How much does it cost to rewire a flat or a house?
It depends on the floor area, the number of circuits and sockets, the type of walls and whether the fuse board is being replaced too. That's why we give an exact price only after we've seen the property. Over the phone we can explain what the job involves, so you know what to expect.
Does all the wiring have to be replaced, or can just part of it be done?
Not always: if the rest of the installation is in good shape, a partial rewire can work. Often the board goes first, with new circuits for the kitchen and bathroom, and the rooms follow later. With aluminium cables, cracked insulation or scorched joints, a partial job only postpones the problem, so a full rewire is better.
Can a flat be rewired without chasing every wall?
Partly, yes. Cables can run in surface trunking or behind skirting, and sometimes through the old conduits in the wall, if they're clear. You can't avoid chasing altogether, especially for new sockets and boxes. How much chasing it takes depends on the walls and on where you want the points.
